Bidat

Bidat means additions done to our religion Islam by following other religion customs like Hinduism and Christianity. Like following Hindu customs like Diwali and holi by Muslims and celebrating christian customs like Christmas by the  Muslims.

Our followers of the other sect that is shiasm commit bidat by doing matam during ashura days in the memory of Hazrat Imam  Hussain's martyrdom. In our religion there is absolutely no concept of beating one up and we have taken this tradition of beating ourselves with sticks or knives or swords from Hinduism. Similarly even our sunnis follow bidat of visiting the graves of our loved ones and spreading food and sweets on the Eidun miladun Nabi day commemorating the Holy Prophet Muhammad's birth by following a tradition which is similar to the christian tradition of christmas.

In the end what I would like to say is that we shouldnt commit Bidat and should follow everything we have in the Quran and Sunnah of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (May Peace Be Upon Him)
