Modesty in Islam
Allah has told us to be modest in Islam. Men and women should guard their private parts from one another if they are strangers to each other and are not married to one another. For women they are particularly expected to be modest and do hijab and guard their private parts particularly those which are visible to the naked eye.
Women are particularly are expected to be modest and do hijab because they do not have as much sexual desires and libido as men do and that's why they are expected to dress up decently. All these laws are made to protect women from being raped and subjected to sexual violence.
Similarly men are expected to be modest to protect themselves from sins and from committing Adultery. Men are also expected to dress up decently with clothing uptill their navel.
In the end what I would like to say modesty protects us from sins and Allah forgives our sins through modesty and repentance.
