Ten reasons why our dua is not answered by Allah

1-The person is making a weak dua: This means that what is being asked is not acceptable. Or in other cases, it might be that he is not asking for it properly. A person might be committing a sin while making Dua. “Whenever a Muslim supplicates Allah, He accepts his supplication or averts any similar kind of trouble from him until he prays for something sinful or something that may break the ties of kinship.” – At- Tirmidhi, Riyad as-Salihin 1501 2-The person who is making dua is weak: a weak person is one with weak iman. This means that the person is not sure that Allah will accept the dua. Also, he might be just saying memorized words without faith and emotions. 3-The person is sinful: A sinful person first needs to ask for Allah’s forgiveness so that Allah is pleased with him. 4-Being uncertain: a dua which is made with uncertainty is unlikely to be accepted. A person shall make a dua with full hope of acceptance. The Holy Prophet PBUH said that a dua made with heedless heart is...

Historical figures in Islam - Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique

First Caliph of Islam Abu Bakr's first action as caliph was to dispatch an expeditionary force into Syria to avenge the defeat of the Battle of Mu'tah (629 CE), as had been planned by the Prophet (this force was not very successful though, later forays achieved much more). This meant to show not only that the Muslims had not forgotten their fallen comrades but also to declare that the Caliphate would continue what Muhammad had started. MANY IMPOSTER PROPHETS APPEARED IN VARIOUS TRIBES; THE MOST NOTABLE ONE HAD STARTED HIS ACTIVITIES IN THE LAST YEARS OF MUHAMMAD: MUSAYLIMAH. But another issue arose in the deserts to the east of Medina: the Bedouin tribes that had accepted Islam less due to spiritual motivation and more for political reasons now renounced their support for the new faith. They claimed that their covenant ended with the death of Muhammad, they even refused to offer zakat (alms to be paid in Islam) to Medina. To make matters worse, many imposter prophets appeared ...

Depression cure in Islam

RULE # 1: APPLY EASIEST STRATEGIES FIRST What may be easier for you might be very difficult for somebody else to achieve. The number of stages that I will mention below comprise of activities and small steps for you to take in order to  overcome depression anxiety in Islam.  Only you know best which steps are easier for you. I advise you to start with those. For eg, waking up early in the morning might be easier for you than breaking the cycle of sin (cycle implies that you are repeatedly committing one particular sin- for eg, listening to music or having haram relationships etc). If you start by doing something that’s very difficult, chances are you will give up sooner. Besides, if you are unable to achieve that particular goal after multiple attempts, you will lower your self-esteem further. As a result, you will end up more depressed/ anxious. RULE # 2: DON’T GIVE UP EVEN IF YOU FAIL MULTIPLE TIMES So you missed fajr again? I’m not going to tell you it’s fine. But wha...

Allah does not burden a soul that it cannot bear

A lot of things can calm us : from music to theatre. Exercise and laughing can help us endorphins and some foods can give us momentary pleasure. But what do we do when we need inner peace? An inner peace that can send a surge of tranquility and calmness all throughout our physical, mental and spiritual souls. Everyone has their own way of finding inner peace but for myself and a lot of other Muslims, we find it through Allah (s.w.t) and Islam. You can find a bunch of calming verses in the Quran that will help guide you throughout your life. And here are a few : “Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear” (2:286) لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا It is important to understand that every hardship that we face in life is a test from Allah (s.w.t). It is a test of patience, devotion and trust in Allah (s.w.t). With that test and challenge, we must implicate this verse from Surah Al-Baqarah into our lives. Allah (s.w.t) does not burden anyone with any trouble in...

Imam Mahdi

Before the Judgement Day, there will be a time when disbelief will spread in the world, there will be cruelty and rebellion everywhere on earth, Islam will be confined to Haramayn-e-Tayyibayn, and Awliya (pious saints) and Abdaal will migrate there. Then a person will be born from the offspring of Sayyidatuna Fatima-tuz-Zahra رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا. He will promote justice everywhere on earth and will be the fifth king who will rule the entire earth. He is called Imam Mahdi. (At-Tazkira Bi Ahwal il-Mouta Wa Umoor-il-Aakhirah, pp. 565; summarised) The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated, ‘This world will not end until the king of Arab be a person who will be from me or my family members. His name will be the same as my name and his father’s name will just be the same as my father’s. He will promote justice everywhere in the sky as well as on earth, as cruelty and injustice were everywhere in the sky as well as on earth.’ (Abu Dawood, vol. 4, pp. 144, Hade...

Repentance from Sins

To err is human  A Muslim’s faith may become weak and he may be overwhelmed by his desires. The Shaytan may make sin attractive to him, so he wrongs himself (commits sin) and falls into that which Allah has forbidden. But Allah is Kind to His slaves, and His mercy encompasses all things. Whoever repents after doing wrong,  Allah will accept his repentance  , for Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.  “But whosoever repents after his crime and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allah), then verily, Allah will pardon him (accept his repentance). Verily, Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful  [al-Maidah 5:39 – interpretation of the meaning]   Allah is Forgiving and Generous. He commands all His slaves to  repent sincerely  so that they may gain the mercy of Allah and His Paradise. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):   “O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will expiate from you your sins,...

Lessons from Surah Al Asr

Surat Al-‘Asr is the Surah in Quran 103 with three vereses. Apart from informing us to preoccupy ourselves with faith in Allah, good deeds, there are some lessons derived from Surat Al-‘Asr. In only three verses, Surat Al-Asr explains the way to salvation. Imam Ash-Shafi’i said, “If Allah had revealed only this Surah to His creatures, it would have been enough for them.” We are informed of the end for the disbeliever: complete and utter loss. We are informed of the ultimate success awaiting those who believe and do good deeds, those who stay away from Shirk and disobedience. It is compulsory to advise one another to follow the truth and to be patient. Here, Allâh Almighty swore by the time,” for in the passing of time, things change constantly, a reality from which we can learn many lessons. When we are informed that we must advise one another and cooperate with one another to promote truth, good deeds, and patience, we learn what the life of the believer should be, a life in whi...
