Actions that prevent punishment of the grave

"In general, refraining from what causes punishment in the grave is the best way to avoid being punished. A person must sit for a while before he goes to bed and hold himself accountable for what he gained during that day and what he lost, then renew his sincere repentance to Allah and sleep after having repented, and when he wakes up, be determined not to commit the same sins again. He should do this every night; if he dies that night he would die after having repented, and if he wakes up, he would wake up happy because he was given a respite and given a chance to strive hard in good deeds to make up for what he missed out on. There is nothing better or more beneficial than such a way of going to sleep, especially if he follows this accountability with mentioning Allah and follows the recommendations of Sunnah (Prophetic tradition) on how to go to sleep and supplicate until he falls asleep. The one whom Allah wills good for, He will guide him to doing so." The Prophet  sall...

How to save oneself from hell fire in Islam

As Muslims, it is part of our faith to believe in the Fire of Hell otherwise known as Jahannam; An abode that God has created as a means of severe punishment for the wrongdoers of Earth, aside from those who were forgiven and admitted into His immense mercy. “…Fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.” Quran 2:24 “…Indeed, We have prepared Hell for the disbelievers as a lodging.” Quran 18:102 The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was always intensely afraid of the Fire and would consistently warn people to ward themselves away from it. The Prophet ﷺ would also in fact mention certain deeds that would assist the doer to distance themselves from the Fire tremendously. We have compiled a list of such actions that anyone of us can undertake to save themselves from the Fire. May Allah protect us all. 1. Believing in Allah and His Messenger. Ubada Ibn Samit narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever witnesses that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Mess...

Cure for anxiety in Islam

We all experience difficulties in our life’s and as Muslims we should know that this is a test from Allah. In fact that this is something Muslims firmly believe in, that going through difficult times is inevitable. {Do people think they will be left alone and they will not be tried? …} ( Al-`Ankbut  29:3) And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). Al-Baqra Verse No:155 Even the Prophet went through difficult times. For examples when his son Ibrhim passed away to the next life. The prophet felt sadness, expressed his emotions through tears and grief. Then he wept more and said, “The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim! Indeed we are grieved by your separation.”  Bukhari; Book 23, hadith 1228 Allah gives us reward through affliction It’s important to remember that as Muslims Allah has...

How to make Allah happy

While the expected answer to the question, “How to make Allah happy?” might be something along the lines of the following: Be a good person. Don’t lie, cheat or steal. Obey Allah’s commandments. Read the Holy Qur’an. Observe your prayers and the Pillars of Islam. Give charity and help the needy. Be an all around goody two shoes. I would instead like to present an alternative approach to the question of what makes Allah Almighty happy, and provide what might be a surprising answer to the question, one that I believe will ultimately include all of the above and more. Again, all of the above actions are undoubtedly “pleasing” to God, and lead to personal growth and spiritual development, yet the faster path to divine pleasure, the unexpected answer to the question, “How to make Allah happy in Islam?”, is a bit counterintuitive. Here it is. How to Make Allah Happy by Cultivating Personal Joy: 5 Simple Suggestions 1. Purify Your Paradigm Accept and affirm the truth. Realize and remembe...
